伦敦工商会是独立于政府的非官方组织，它是伦敦地区最大的商业性协会，目前拥有会员3000多家，其会员大多是伦敦地区或伦敦附近地区的工商企业。伦敦工商会在英国政界和商界均很有影响，被视做"伦敦商业的喉舌"。
该商会可出具原产地证书、ATA Carnets、信用证、进口许可证等；还可向会员及非会员提供进出口业务咨询，组织出访代表团，接待国外来访代表团，组织境外展览会、国内外研讨会及提供翻译服务等等。
伦敦工商会与英贸工部、国际贸易局等联系密切，具有很强的游说作用，对政府经贸方面的政策措施有很强的影响力。
伦敦工商会下设出口单证、国际贸易、政策研究、信息中心、营销、信息技术、会员、财务等部门，组织机构庞大，实力雄厚。该会为非盈利性组织，其活动经费及日常开支来源于会员所缴纳的会费，每年其会费收入约700万英镑。
